Letter from the Sale Chairman
October 21, 2024
Dear Angus Producer,
As sale chairman for the 33rd Annual Kansas Angus Assn. commercial female sale, I would like to extend a special invitation to participate in this year’s sale which will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Pratt Livestock, Pratt, Kansas.
The current market prices are exceeding levels not seen for many years. The demand for young, productive, Angus based females will be high, as breeding stock numbers in our region are very low. I have had several calls from producers looking for volume load lots of females from reputation herds.
We are taking consignments for bred heifers and cows, fall cow/calf pairs, and open heifers. Minimum lot size is 5 head. The females must be predominantly black or black baldies, with no dairy or Brahman influence. Maximum age on cows is 7 years. Bred females must be pregnancy checked within 30 days of the sale by your veterinarian, or by the Pratt Livestock vet the day before the sale.
As you fill out the entry form or call me with your sale information, it is important to “tell their story”. The cattle will sell the best with complete genetic and breeding information, along with vaccinations and pour-on in the last 6 months. If you have any past carcass data from your herd, this is also valuable information to help your females bring top dollar.
The sales commission has been streamlined to a flat 3% of the gross selling price. This fee provides the best pen spaces with excellent prairie hay and care prior to the sale from the Pratt Livestock crew. Also included is the special sale advertising provided by the Kansas Angus Assn. and Pratt Livestock. A large area of the country will receive the sale listing prior to the sale and we will be contacting past buyers to help merchandise your stock!
Please contact Gordon Stucky (620-532-4122), Jake Lewis (620-770-1069), or Jeff Mafi (816-344-4266) by November 20 to be included in the special sale advertising. A complete online entry form is available at www.kansasangus.org.
Thank you for your use of superior Angus genetics! We look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Gordon Stucky
